Grown on our Oyo State Farms, Fluted pumpkin, commonly called Ugwu is one of the most consumed dark green leafy vegetables which is fabulous in traditionals soups. It can also be eaten in other ways inculding being added to salads, eaten raw or even made into interesting deserts.
To enjoy the health benefits, it is essential to make sure the leaves are not overcooked to prevent the nutrients from being destroyed.
Some reasons why it should be added to your diet include reducing the risk of cancer. Pumpklin leaves are good sources of beta-carotene which is proven to reduce the risk of some cancers especially prostate and breast cancers.
It is also high in Potassium which is. a good mineral that aids with preventing high blood pressure and other heart related diseases.
